Okay so here is a very popular topic as many do these at Disney! We are going to discuss Gender Reveals and Baby announcements! Of course, everything is a little different right now with COVID, but there are still many ways to do it! Also just taking adorable weekly photos in the park! Again, I want to put a disclaimer this is all based on my personal opinions and experiences. Please speak with your medical provider before coming to the Parks. Every pregnancy is different and you may have more restrictions from your doctor vs others.
Okay, first let's talk about baby announcements! There are so many unique and creative ways to do a baby announcement in Disney. I have seen so many of them its amazing! Many will do it with characters or for example in front of Cinderella's Castle. We did a few and made a collage to announce! We decided to customize a Baby Odien hat and also had shirts that said Daddy, Mommy, and then baby on my belly. With Talia's pregnancy, I wanted Stitch for sure and other locations were a bonus. Can I just say how AMAZING Stitch is?! He was so excited to be apart of this and went ALL out! Honestly, it was the greatest. Also, I HIGHLY recommend you getting memory maker if you do not have an AP with it or do not have it yet. When I was pregnant so many photopass loved to have fun with it! Also, we did many o baby announcement photos on Main St USA and again the photopass always went above and beyond to get that perfect shot for us! There were also so many other locations to them. We used our sonogram photo for some as well. Also of course taking photos in front of any of the Icons are perfect baby announcement photos. I've also seen where some have bought baby onesies and or buttons and used them for their announcements.
Going to Jace's baby announcement, we lived in Buffalo but decided on a trip to do his announcement. The best part about the shirts from Talia's announcement is that they are reusable! We got Talia one that then also said Big Sister! We also did a collage with his with different spots. I'm indecisive so I can never just pick one. We also decided to use characters but also take photos of just Talia and the Baby Odien Hat! I love being creative so any new way I can think of I would love to try!
Now, all about Gender reveals! So the first thing I want to mention is I recommend talking with a Cast Member or Character Attendant before asking the character to do one. For both of ours, we did ask and we told it was okay and they were excited! So for Talia's, we stuck with the Stitch theme. What we decided was to do a pink or blue mickey ears hat and with the name engraved on it. We gave our friend the envelope and she went to the ear shop and bought it. It's also great to have a friend or family member help you with this so you aren't tempted to peak! After she got the hat, we stood in line for Stitch (longest moments ever!). Stitch was so excited to help us and it was such a magical moment for us. I cried naturally. Again photopass was AMAZING! The funny thing is with Talia's reveal, Let it Go is heard in the background. Foreshadowing Talia's love for Frozen haha!
With Jace's reveal, we decided to do Chewbacca for the love of Star Wars! Because of Star Wars licensing we didn't know if we were able to do it with Chewie, so we ended up asking many Cast Members and they were all so amazing with it. We got the go-ahead with this moment and the only thing was of course no red lightsaber and Chewie couldn't hold it. Which was no big deal at all. This was before those lovely photo boxes replaced the amazing photopass photographers. I would suggest if you get to do it with someone who may have the photo box, be sure you have someone with you to take great photos for you! Anyways back to the reveal information, so we had the envelope a month before our reveal, and the day we got it we sent to Florida to our friend who was assisting. She went and bought a lightsaber for us (blue boy or purple girl) and she also wins the award for the longest hardest secret to keep from us hahaha! This was such a perfect and comedic reveal (watch the video to know why) and this time we had our family with us too since we were on a family trip. It was truly amazing! We announced his name a few days later actually (mainly because we were stumped on boys' names!). What we did though was got a button wit his name and took photos at all the Parks with it and the blue lightsaber! It was cute and fun!
Right now with no character interactions, you can still do it at Disney! There are so many different creative ways! Also, photopass is still around so they can assist if you want to do it in front of one of the icons for example. You can always use Disney balloons, stuffed animals, baby onesies, etc! Disney has so many good spots to do it in. Plus you can always still do a Star Wars one for example in Galaxy Edge! I would love to help anyone with ideas as well! The same goes for announcing the name if you decide to do it before birth. So many different ways!
Disney is also a fun place for bump photos! Since we were local to Orlando with Talia, every week the bump photo was at either Disney or Universal! With Jace, I did get a few whiles on vacation. I loved taking bump photos and still look back at them in awe of how big I was haha. Also, I still try to figure out how I walked Magic Kingdom the night before I was induced!
