Hi again! I want to write now about attractions and shows while pregnant at Disney! First I want to put a disclaimer this is all based on my personal opinions and experiences. Please speak with your medical provider before coming to the Parks. Every pregnancy is different and you may have more restrictions from your doctor vs others.
First I would like to say please follow any of Disney's advisories on what you should or shouldn't ride while at the parks or listen to what your doctors say. I know with Talia's pregnancy (local to Disney) I did ask if I could ride everything Disney approves for expectant mothers and I was told yes. With Jace (lived in Buffalo, NY) I asked the same and they also said I was okay to fly and do anything safe. Of course their biggest thing was making sure to stay hydrated and don't over do it. Please take any tips and advice they have you. I cannot stress that enough.
Here is a list of all the attractions that you should NOT ride while visiting the Theme Parks. This is from the official Disney website. Click here. These attractions will also have warning signs located right to the attraction and also you can find this all on the My Disney Experience App. If you are at a certain ride and cannot find the information please ask that Cast Member at the front of the attraction. They can advise you if this ride is on the list of attractions you can ride or not.
I always hear "why are you going to Disney? You cannot go on anything." This is the most inaccurate statement ever. Majority of the attraction that have no height limit you can ride (minus Kilimanjaro Safari and attractions at the Water Parks). The list of safe attractions are more than the attractions you cannot ride. Majority of these rides and shows can be life savers too when it comes to wanting to take it easy.
I would say watching shows are the best way to relax and sit for a bit when you are tired and hot. They are also fun to watch! Beauty and the Beast stage show located at Hollywood Studios is one of my favorites! Yes its outdoors but under shade, just be sure to get there early to be under the shaded areas! Festival of the Lion King and Nemo at Animal Kingdom are longer shows and great to relax in the AC. Disney Junior Dance party at Hollywood Studios is also a great place if you already have young children plus pregnant. Only thing with that show if you want to sit, most of the sitting is on the floor so be prepared for that. All the showtimes can be listed on the My Disney Experience app and the time guides sheet you can pick up at your resort and the front of that theme park! Shows are also a great place to relax and recharge when you cannot take a mid day break at your hotel or home.
Even while pregnant I loved to ride the rides! I will say there were certain days I wasn't feeling certain attraction so listen to your body, you don't want to over do something. People Mover is still one of my favorite besides Mansion and it was always a favorite while pregnant ! I was just able to kick up my feet and relax while people watching! Regardless of being pregnant or not I loved riding things! Spaceship Earth one of my other favorites and its a great relaxing ride. I'm so sad that it is going down for refurbishment soon for a while. When my family wanted to go a ride that I couldn't I would find a nice relaxing area and took that time to recharge and hydrate. Good time to utilize the baby centers if close to them! If you didn't read my first pregnancy blog I have all the information there about them! Also great time to eat a Disney snack and keep it to yourself hehe! I still remember getting a mickey pretzel and cheese right before my family went onto Test Track! Great snack to have while waiting! Another awesome place is the Seas with Nemo and Friends! The ride is nice and then after you have the seas area to walk around or sit and relax for a bit and watch the sea life. I am huge with sea animals so I love this area so much and can spend hours there. I will say on certain rides near the ending of my pregnancy with Talia I had to adjust myself to make sure the bar didnt rest on my belly and also needed extra help getting off of rides like Pirates and Small World due to the steps. My husband and family were great at helping! I also was extra large with Talia so my belly was huge.
My favorite was probably character interactions while I was pregnant. These are some of my favorite photos and memories. We brought our baby Odien Mickey ears and then Talia's pink ears to a lot of characters and they always had the best time. Stitch, Goofy and Donald Duck are always a great time. Can't forget the lovely Mickey and Minnie! Photopass photographers also always had such fun! So many of photopass were so excited to do fun things with us! Also regarding fireworks I know standing for example in front of the Castle gets crowded and when your pregnant that can be extra irritating. Of course if you have never seen Happily Ever After, I recommend at least watching once from Main Street, however if you have seen countless times there are some other nice spots. For example watching it over The Little Mermaid Ride or Be Our Guest. Also the Tangled Bathroom area is nice and has seating area. The night before I was induced with Talia, we watched behind the castle where I was able to sit. Now with Covid, I am not sure how these interactions will be in the future but I hope will return to normal in the future when its safe.
Ultimately do not let others tell you going to Disney while pregnant is silly because it is not. I cannot stand when I see people say that or post that. Do not let them discourage you, if you are cleared by your doctor to go and travel I say go! Just be smart while there and listen to your body.
